Nurses make up 90% of the global healthcare workforce. The World Health Organization says that, for every 10,000 people there should be 23 health care providers. In Haiti there are just 6 health care providers for every 10,000 people. Nurses, who make up 90% of the global healthcare workforce, are critical to meeting development goals and providing safe and effective care to individual, families and entire communities. By sponsoring a nursing student, you can help shape the future of public health in Haiti.
The High Tech Nursing School (HTNS) provides the only advanced, hands-on nursing training in the Port-au-Prince area. Your sponsorship educates compassionate, well-trained personnel who will affect local healthcare for years to come.

The Nursing Student Sponsorship Program provides support to students attending HTNS. Many of these students are from low-income rural families and would not be able to attend without your support.
How does the sponsorship work?
A gift of $1,500 a year provides everything required a student to receive an outstanding nursing education. This tax-deductible donation covers all that is required for a student to have advanced training for a year: tuition, fees, laboratory and internet support, instructors’ salaries, supplies, and more. Gifts can be made online or by check. You or your group may pay once a year, or make monthly or quarterly gifts.
Sponsorships auto-renew annually so each student has the stability of continuing training without interruption. Your sponsorship may be cancelled at any time by contacting us in writing.
Who can sponsor?
Anyone! This includes (but is not limited to) individuals, professional groups, families, churches, and community organizations.
What makes students eligible for sponsorship and how are they chosen?
All students who are enrolled in HTNS are eligible for sponsorship. First priority is given to those who meet HTNS scholarship recipient criteria, which include academic qualifications, economic hardship, and a commitment to serve locally after graduation.
May I correspond with my sponsored student?
Sponsors may communicate with their students via email and letters sent through HMH. Each sponsor will receive periodic reports on the sponsored student. Email contact directly with the student is also possible upon request. HMH will help facilitate this process.
